There is a page on this site about the flawdagoth leaks, and people have asked why I would draw attention to something I would rather did not exist. The honest answer is that the attention already exists and none of it was mine.
The word is doing a lot of work it has not earned
A leak implies something private escaped. Nothing that circulates under my name was private — all of it was published by me, to people who chose to subscribe.
What happened after that was copying. Calling it a leak makes it sound like an event. It is a business, and a slow one: by the time a file reaches an aggregator it has usually been through several hands and several rounds of re-encoding.
Ranking for it is the point
If someone searches the phrase, they are going to land somewhere. My preference is that they land somewhere accurate, run by me, that tells them the folders are empty and the surveys are scams.
Leaving the phrase entirely to aggregators means the only answer available is theirs.
What I will not do
I am not going to pretend it does not happen, and I am not going to perform being devastated about it either. It is a cost of the job, it is mostly old material, and a good share of it is not even me.
The page stays up because the question keeps getting asked. This is just the long version of the answer.
